Knocksense Shorts | Upcoming sewage treatment plant in Kotarpur, Ahmedabad to tackle water wastage

Zeal Jani

Previously, the water waste and sewage from Sardarnagar, Bhadreshwar, Sanjaynagar, and other eastern wards were discarded through main drainage line stretching from Naroda to Pirana. Unfortunately, the lack of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the area, coupled with the strain on this main line, led to waterlogging problems.

To alleviate the strain on the primary drainage trunk line and effectively resolve sewage-related concerns for residents, the AMC has introduced a new sewage treatment plant in Kotarpur with a capacity of 60 Million Liters per Day.

This modern facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 10.30 crore, is poised to play a crucial role in wastewater treatment. The treated water will be recycled and released into the river, contributing to better environmental management and sustainable water practices. The plant's operations are set to commence shortly, heralding a positive step toward addressing local water wastage issues.
