Rainy days ahead! Gujarat to welcome monsoons on June 15, promising significant respite

Residents of Gujarat, it's time to dust off those raincoats and umbrellas! The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon will arrive in the state starting from June 15, bringing a much-needed respite after a scorching May. Southwest Monsoon has already reached Kerala and is making its way northward, soon to drench Gujarat in its cooling spell.

Expect strong surface winds

On Tuesday, the IMD forecasted that the southwest monsoon is expected to set in over Gujarat by June 15. However, the weather will remain dry over the next seven days.

In a separate advisory, the IMD warned of "strong surface winds" blowing at nearly 30 kilometers per hour across most parts of the state over the next two days. The advisory also highlights the potential for dust storms, particularly in regions such as Kutch, Patan, Banaskantha, Surendranagar, and parts of Saurashtra. These conditions could cause temporary disruptions and residents are advised to take necessary precautions.

In Ahmedabad, the heat has been particularly oppressive, with temperatures hovering to a maximum of 42.8°C on Thursday. The impending monsoon is expected to bring significant relief from the ongoing heatwave.
