In a bid to safeguard the bridge routes and Ahmedabad's highways, the AMC will very soon install cameras on 85 routes across the city.

These cameras will be equipped with speed detection sensors similar to those used on expressways. Furthermore, the surveillance system will be continuously monitored through police control centres.

Flyovers in Ahmedabad will be equipped with 6 cameras

A comprehensive budget has already been sanctioned for the installation of cameras in Ahmedabad. Reportedly, each flyover in the city will have 6 cameras. Out of these, 4 cameras will be installed on the approach points of each side, while the remaining 2 cameras will be installed in the middle section.

Notably, the decision has been taken in response to a severe traffic accident that occurred on Iskcon Bridge, resulting in multiple casualties. The installed cameras will have the capability to capture vehicle number plates, enabling the identification of traffic rule violators. Moreover, these cameras will assist the police authorities in effective traffic management and crowd control measures.
