Established during the Mauryan times, Chittorgarh has been a witness to multiple episodes of historical relevance encompassing myriad dynasties. Though it needs no introduction, the most famous of all attractions in this chronicled town is the Chittorgarh Fort. Spread over 700 acres, the colossal structure is an epitome of Rajputana architecture and is also tagged as Asia's largest fort. Charging ₹10 from Indian visitors and ₹100 from foreigners, we wonder if there is any other place delivering such grand experiences at this nominal fee.

The enchanting fort encapsulates almost all attractions of Chittorgarh. From the splendid castles like the Fateh Prakash Palace, Padmini's Palace, Rana Kumbha palace to the astounding towers like Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh, Chittorgarh fort is home to some of the finest marvels from history. If you are here, do not miss the Kalka Mata Temple because the carvings on the temple walls would surely leave you spellbound.

While Chittorgarh allows two travel options via air and road, a road trip becomes the more feasible choice given the small difference in travel time. You can easily find a bus to Chittorgarh or hire a vehicle for a luxurious experience. Given the harsh desert summers, the best time to visit Chittorgarh is during the winter months from October to March.
