If you still abide by the principles set by the cult Dil Chahta Hai, "Hum logo ko har saal ek na ek baar Goa zaroor jana chahiye", then this news is going to brighten your day!
The Goa cruise liner season will get a kickstart with the arrival of Cordelia Empress. It is expected to dock on September 30 at Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) with some 2,650 passengers. It is also anticipated that the domestic cruise liner, this year, will make around 35 trips to Goa.
Moreover, 56 port calls, including those by foreign cruise lines, have been predicted this year in Goa. With this, the state tourism will receive the boost it needed.
The MPA officials have confirmed that the first international cruise vessel of the year will arrive in Goa in October.
“During the pandemic, domestic as well as international cruises came to a standstill. Now we are restarting both and we want to make the experience comfortable and a memorable one,” MPA chairman Venkata Ramana Akkaraju said.
A new international cruise terminal, covering 55,000 sqm of land, is also in the plans. A ₹74.1 crore project, it will supposedly be constructed by September 2023. “Till then, cruise liners will use the existing terminal,” Akkaraju added.
Approximately 51 international cruise liners are hosted by Goa. This includes Ocean Odyssey, Regent Seven Seas, M S Europa, Silver Spirit, and so on.
With an aim to augment the cruise tourism sector in Goa, cruise visitors have a lot in store for an indelible experience. “We are confident that all cruise visitors coming to Goa will have a good and unforgettable experience,” Akkaraju expressed.
So pack your bags, people, because Goa most definitely is calling this time!
