The Goa Police is collaborating with BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus in order to develop projects involving artificial intelligence, machine learning and other technological projects, which will help in strengthening the cybersecurity framework and will enable predictive policing.

The Director General of Police, Jaspal Singh and Director of BITS Pilani Goa Campus, Suman Kundu signed the MoU. They plan to share the technical expertise and to explore the possibilities for training police officials and students in subjects related to technology and crime.

Academic institutes can help investigators in providing scientific insights

The Director of BITS Pilani believes that this initiative can expand the realms of many under-discovered domains such as digital forensics, by the means of modern technology, clubbed with out-of-the box thinking. Furthermore, the possibility of arranging special courses for students and police officers related to cyber crime and technology was also discussed between the both parties.

A huge scope to solve complex security problems

The DGP said that the exchange of information and expertise between both the institutions will go a long way in helping the Goans and serving them in an efficient manner.

The Goa Police also signed a similar MoU with IIT Goa, earlier this year.
