Curfew restrictions extended for a week in Goa till 7 AM on July 26!

Gyms, religious places, shops, malls and some other places in Goa have been allowed to reopen with certain terms and conditions.

As a move of caution against the ongoing pandemic, the Goa government has extended the curfew restrictions for one more week till 7 AM on July 26. While the restraints were first imposed on May 9, they have now stretched for a period of more than 2 and a half months. Notably, gyms, religious places, shops, malls and other places have been allowed to reopen with certain terms and conditions, the basic one being complete adherence to COVID protocol.

Declaring the extension of the curfew from his Twitter account, the Chief Minister affirmed that current restrictions and relaxations shall be applicable this week too. According to the present guidelines, gyms and sports complexes without spectators can operate at 50% capacity while only 15 people are allowed within religious places. Additionally, reports state that shops and malls are permitted to function between 7 AM and 6 PM. Further, the state administration had previously allowed different kinds of gatherings not more than 100 attendees or 50% of the venue capacity.

On the other side, schools and colleges continue to remain closed in Goa and cinema halls will remain shut too. According to reports, District Magistrate North Goa had released a list of activities and establishments that were not allowed to function. With the loosening grip of the virus, COVID tallies in Goa are descending downwards gradually. As per records, 120 new infections and 219 recoveries were logged in the coastal state on Sunday. While the state has 1,562 active patients now, 1,69,740 individuals have been affected by the highly contagious virus till now.
