Only fully-vaccinated travellers or those with a negative RT-PCR report allowed entry in Goa

In view of rising COVID cases, new pandemic-mandated restrictions were imposed in Goa on Wednesday

In an attempt to eliminate the risk of the emergent Omicron/third wave of coronavirus and rise in cases in the state, the government of Goa has imposed fresh restrictions. As per the order issued by the administration on Wednesday, only fully-vaccinated people or those with a negative RT-PCR report (not older than 72 hours) will be allowed to enter Goa now. After witnessing a sudden increase in COVID infections in Goa, the administration has decided to take certain emergency measures to curb and contain the spread of this virus. In line with the fresh restrictions, casinos, cinema halls, auditoriums, community halls, river cruises, water parks, entertainment parks will now operate at 50% of their pre-coronavirus capacity. Moreover, only fully-vaccinated people or those possessing a valid negative RT-PCR report, that is not older than 24 hours at the time of entry, will be allowed to enter these places.

Restriction to continue across Goa until further notice

All the places of public amusement including spa, massage parlour, restaurants, bars, gyms, pubs and cinema halls, among others have to strictly adhere to all the stipulated COVID safety protocols including masks, thermal screening and sanitisation at the entry.

The owners or management of these places will be held accountable for violation of any of these rules on the premises. Contravening this order is punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Notably, the administration hasn't put out any new curbs on schools as an updated set of SOPs will be issued soon by the education department on their behalf. According to the notification issued by the state government, these curbs will remain effective in the state until further notice.
