On Friday, the administrative authorities of Goa extended the lockdown till May 31, which was supposed to terminate originally on May 23. Since Goa has the second-highest positivity rate in the country, after Lakshadweep, this move has been implemented in an attempt to flatten the curve. Hit doubly hard during the current time, owing to both the pandemic and Cyclone Tauktae, the situation in Goa is being closely monitored by the officials for imparting proper rescue and relief to the residents.

The second swell of the coronavirus has affected all states across India and in a bid to flatten the curve, several states are under stringent restricrions. Initially, the curfew in Goa was supposed to end on 23 May, however, the Chief Minister has now extended it till 31 May because a continuous increase in coronavirus infections has been observed here.
During this extended lockdown period, all curfew norms will continue in the state, as they were. Stores selling essential items, liquor and grocery shops can stay open from 7 AM to 1 PM and medical stores and restaurant kitchens, are allowed to function from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Apart from the extended curfew, many other measures have been put in place to solve the current crisis. As per reports earlier, MLAs were advised to open COVID war rooms in their electorates, so that the issues of the residents regarding COVID-19, can be resolved timely.
Further, the devastating effects of Cyclone Tauktae have multiplied the issues, that Goa is facing currently. Several places such as Hollant Beach have been completely wrecked. Goa is currently troubled on all frontiers and we hope that the needs of the residents are attended to, swiftly and efficiently.
