As per weather forecasts, the extended monsoons are set to gain strength over the southern peninsular region of India. Reportedly, a rainy spell will cast widespread to fairly widespread showers for the next four days here. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a heavy downpour will wash the Konkan coast and Goa, stretching upto central Maharashtra and Marathwada today. The weather shall continue to remain so until September 9.

Starting today, the rainfall activity over central and eastern India will intensify, bringing moderate showers with isolated heavy spells in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh over the next 4 days. Further, the rains will pour at a subdued rate over the northwest regions, including Uttarakhand and neighbouring regions of Uttar Pradesh. Here also, sparse but intense rainfall can be witnessed for the next 48 hours.
During this time, Uttarakhand is also likely to receive very heavy showers. Other regions of the northern belt, including Himachal Pradesh, West UP, Haryana, Chandigarh and east Rajasthan are under the monsoon purview on September 7 and 8.
As moderate showers hit the Mumbai city and suburbs today, the Regional Meteorological Centres of the city has forecasted the possibility of amplified heavy showers and occasional intense spells over the next 24 hours as well. People are administrations are duly advised to take necessary safety measures in their respective areas, to prevent cases of waterlogging and electricity outage.
