In a bid to control the persistent threat of the coronavirus pandemic in Goa, government authorities have decided to stretch the COVID 'curfew' protocols in the state. At the same time, the Chief Minister has permitted ease in certain guidelines amid the decelerated virus strength. Under the new relaxations, shops in municipal markers and panchayats are permitted to open from 7 AM to 3 PM and weddings can take place with 50 people, the CM announced on Twitter.

He also took this opportunity to encourage all adults (people over 18 years of age) to get their vaccination shot from the nearby centre, as soon as possible. The state has driven an effective vaccination campaign so far with its dedicated Tika Utsav editions. Further, walk-in vaccinations have also been permitted in Goa, for the 18 to 44 age group from today, i.e., June 13.

As per figures, around 6,21,327 anti-COVID shots have been administered in Goa since the launch of the inoculation activity here in January 2021. It may be noted here that about 34% of the state's population has received at least the first jab of the vaccine, while 6.4% of this are completed their two-dose course.
