India's first holistic Cyber Wellness Centre has been set in Panaji, Goa. A joint initiative by Responsible Netism and Teva India, this unique centre will receive all the necessary help from the state administration to tackle the menace of cyber crimes in the coastal state.
Expressing his concerns about cyber crime, the CM requested that ordinary citizens of Goa, especially youngsters remain vigilant. The administration has promised complete support to the cause from the Home Department, health services, GMC or IPHB and other wings to aid the medical treatment in cyber crime cases.
While there has been a noticeable increase in the number of cyber crimes complaints in Goa in recent times, a lot of cases still go unreported due to people's lack of awareness. Now with the help of these tie-ups with cyber cells, this cyber centre will help in detecting cyber crimes in the state, more effectively.
Meanwhile, the wellness centre will also assist the victims of cyber crimes by offering them psychological support. In addition to this, the centre will also provide counselling for online distress along with assessment and treatment for internet addiction. This centre will also attempt at making children and adults responsible and aware by imparting educational programmes on digital literacy and online safety across the state.
As per Ms. Sonali Patankar, the Cyber Wellness Centre is a holistic resource that would offer a 360° preventive and curative solution to online distress.
