Offering much more than historical structures and iconic eateries, Indore is a city thronged by the followers of Jainism, as it is home to Gomatgiri Jain Temple. Constructed on a hillock donated by Jain Samaj to the state government in 1981, this temple is hardly a 10-minute drive from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. A famous picnic spot that guarantees a breathtaking view, the magnificence of this temple warrants a visit from people belonging to all faiths.

A pilgrimage for Jains belonging to the Digambar sect, Gomatgiri has a 21-feet tall statue of Gomateshwar- the son of the first Tirthankara, Rishabhdev. Gomateshwar is also known by the name of Bahubali and his statue at the Gomatgiri Jain Temple is a replica of the one at Shravanabelagola! This feature attracts tourists and devotees from all walks of life, throughout the year.

Apart from this major tourist attraction, Gomatgiri is also home to 24 marble temples dedicated to the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism, the beauties of which are accentuated by their shikhars. Further, adding another feather in the cap of this touristy destination are the serene surroundings that exude a magical aura that provides a much-needed religious respite to many.
