According to the report of the Union Health Ministry, a total of 3,16,504 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, meanwhile, a total of 6,093 new COVID cases were reported, taking India’s active COVID cases to 49,636. A marginal fall was registered here as compared to that of 6,395 cases on September 8.
Prior to this, on September 6, India saw the lowest number of cases in three months which was 4,417. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.93% and the weekly positivity rate was at 1.88%. In the same period, the death toll climbed to 5,28,121 with 31 fatalities.
As of this morning, under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, 214.55 crore doses of COVID vaccines have been administered in the country, of which 94.46 crore are the second dose and 17.73 crore are precaution doses.
Reportedly, more than 202.42 crores (2,02,42,52,325) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs, out of which over 4.90 crore vaccines still remain unutilised by the States/UTs.
Earlier on 6 September, India gave emergency use authorisation to the world’s first intranasal COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine was jointly developed by Bharat Biotech and Washington University St. Louis.
