Five new districts announced for Ladakh by the MHA

According to an announcement by Home Minister Amit Shah, the Union Territory of Ladakh is all set to get five new districts. Designating these new districts in Ladakh is an attempt to develop every corner of the UT with the help of an area-wise plan. The five new districts will be named Drass, Changthang, Nubra, Sham, and Drass.

84-member Indian contingent ready for Paris Paralympics, to begin this week

India has sent its biggest ever contingent for Paris Paralympics 2024, which departed from New Delhi on Sunday. Notably, India secured a total of 19 medals in the previous edition of the tournament and the contingent has set itself the target of 25 medals this time around. Paris Paralympics 2024 will begin from August 28.

'Intense rainfall' predicted for multiple states by the IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted 'heavy' to 'intense' rainfall for several states in India. As part of the predictions, most parts of UP have been predicted to experience 'very heavy' rainfall. Moreover, states like Odisha and Gujarat will also experience intense showers.

Chandrayaan-3 data suggests Moon's surface was "once an ocean of magma"

New discovery based on the data received from the probe of Chandrayaan-3 has revealed that the Moon's surface was once an 'ocean of magma'. These findings were published in the Nature journal by the researchers last week. Notably, this new revelation will help in identifying safe landing zones for India's future missions to the Moon.

Maharashtra becomes 1st state to offer Unified Pension Scheme to its employees

Just a day after the Central Government approved the Unified Pension Scheme for employees who have joined the service after January 1, 2004, Maharashtra became the first state to implement the new system. Notably, the UPS will come into effect in Maharashtra from March 2025 and will be applicable for all State Government employees.
