'Laapata Ladies' picked as India's official entry for Oscars 2025

Chosen over 29 other films, including Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal'.

Kiran Rao's 'Laapata Ladies' has been picked by the Film Federation of India as the country's official entry for Oscars 2025. Made at a budget of around ₹5 crore, the movie went on to earn ₹24.1 crore in India and ₹25.26 crore worldwide.

Notably, the movie was picked from among 29 films, including some blockbusters like Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Animal'. The movie will be India's official entry in the 'Foreign Film' category for the 97th Oscars, which will be held on March 2, 2025.
