Marginal rise in COVID cases witnessed in India; 2,323 cases recorded in the last 24 hours

Despite a marginal rise in the daily infection tally, India recorded a decline in its active case count.

Amid the rise and fall of COVID-19, India registered a marginal rise in COVID-19 numbers on Saturday. According to the Health Ministry’s data, the country logged in a grim 2,323 cases in the last 24 hours, marking a 3% rise from Friday’s data of 2,259. A total of 25 people succumbed to the virus on Saturday, as opposed the Friday’s tally of 20 deaths.

COVID-19 stats show a confusing graph

It must be noted that, COVID-19 stats have followed a confusing track in India in the first three weeks of May alone. Out of the total cases, Kerala has registered the maximum number of infections at 556, followed by Delhi at 530. Maharashtra registered a bleak 311 cases on Saturday, followed by Haryana and Uttar Pradesh at 262 and 146 respectively.

With a remarkable recovery rate of 98.75%, recoveries in India have marginally surpassed the daily positive cases at 2,346. Despite a marginal rise in the daily infection tally, and the 24-hour death tally, India recorded a decline in its active case count which now stand at 14,996.

Marginal rise in COVID-19 numbers & deaths

India has been actively testing its residents since the start of the pandemic. With over 4,99,382 tests conducted in the last 24 hours alone, India’s cumulative testing load has surged to a whopping 84.63 crore. Surpassing an undefeated feat, the country has administered a total of 192.12 crore vaccines so far, with over 4.02 lakh people getting inoculated just today.
