National Cinema Day, celebrated every year on September 16, has been officially postponed to September 23 this year, and this 'can happen only in India'!

The move, requested by numerous stakeholders, has been implemented to maximise the participation of people. People, get ready to have a cinema experience like none other because, across India, theatres will participate in the celebration by pricing movie tickets at a mere ₹75!

The day is celebrating the bang-on return of cinema after two years of theatrical hiatus due to COVID.

A day at the movies

With films like RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Gangubai, the on-going Brahmastra and so on, that have sat well with the spectators and ranked high on box office, the Indian cinema has shown an impressive recovery in the post-COVID world.

And with South Indian cinema, Bollywood, and Hollywood crossing paths so often, we're probably witnessing a golden era of theatres to come!

The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) took to Twitter to announce the screens that will be joining in the celebration.

"National Cinema Day will be held at more than 4000 participating screens and will include cinema screens of PVR, INOX, CINEPOLIS, CARNIVAL, MIRAJ, CITYPRIDE, ASIAN, MUKTA A2, MOVIE TIME, WAVE, M2K, DELITE and many others," tweeted MAI.
