On the banks of the Narmada, near Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, resides a pacific getaway, Sailani Island. Renowned for its water sports activities, Sailani has always been the go-to place for all Indoris looking for a break.

A tranquil break

Situated in the backwaters of Indra Gandhi Dam, the island is the perfect place for adventure junkies who would love to go on a fun ride or test themselves against the mighty Narmada. Approximately 80km away from Indore, this secluded island is featured on many travelers' lists. While some can enjoy quality time with their friends and family here, others can go on an adventurous journey for an adrenaline rush.

Moreover, if you are here, there are a lot of things you can do, besides relaxing and water sports. Since the atoll is surrounded by water from three sides, it gives a chance to embark upon a nature retreat. One can go on a hike or camp in this woodland for a peaceful yet adventurous escape.

How to reach?

Sailani Island does not have any air or railway connectivity, however, one can take a train from Indore to Ujjain and further take a cab to reach the final destination.

However, the best means of commuting here is a cab from Indore to Sailani Island. It takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach Sailani. From here, one has to walk to the MPT Sailani Island Resort, while visiting various viewpoints on the backwaters.
