Indore’s Holkar College witnessed massive upgrades that included the inauguration of 9 labs with modern facilities, academic buildings and a computer lab on Saturday. Following the inauguration, Bhoomi Pujan for future projects was also performed. According to the principal of Govt. Holkar Science College, these new labs and facilities will benefit more than 12,000 students and will also cater to the needs of increasing the city's Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER). Set on the pillars of “Access, Quality, Equity, Affordability, and Accountability”, the new National Education Policy (NEP) promises to address the current challenges such as high dropout rate, poor literacy level, and a lack of multidisciplinary courses. On similar lines, the Indore administration continues to launch several schools and college infra projects, with an aim to tackle the above-mentioned challenges.
The new computer department building, laboratories (Swami Vivekananda Labs), and the new Siddhi Vinayak academic block are being constructed at a cost of ₹5.23 crores, ₹2.86 crores, and ₹3.53 crores respectively. Apart from these buildings, a girls’ hostel with a capacity to house 80 individuals will also be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹3.6 crores. Additionally, the Geology Bhawan, CV Raman Laboratory block, a tennis court and a basketball court soon be constructed on the college premises.

Showcasing the efforts made by the city authorities, recently, a govt school in Indore was completely revamped with modern facilities, like CCTV cameras, proper benches, smart class and other hygienic facilities. Resulting in an increase in the GER of Madhya Pradesh to 33% which is higher than the national GER of 27%.
Despite the challenges faced by the pandemic, Madhya Pradesh is also the first state in India to implement the new National Education Policy (NEP). The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has been continuously working as per schedule, resulting in the successful implementation of the policies.
