In a bid to reduce the dependency on the PCR testing lab at MGM Hospital in Indore, the district Health Department is now planning on setting up an advanced microbiology laboratory at PC Sethi Hospital. Notably, this will be the second such advanced testing lab in Indore.
As per reports, the laboratory will be equipped with an Elisa-based TrueNAAT machine and a PCR testing machine. As of now, the lab is undergoing the installation of PCR machines and has already begun testing dengue cases.
Additionally, the setting up of a new microbiology lab will not only open the gates for rapid testing but will also help in improving the efficacy of the results. "With less dependency on just one lab in the district, the results will be declared efficiently and in a timely manner," said an Indore Health Department official.
The new lab will allow the health authorities to test samples for TB, dengue, COVID-19, swine flu and other viral diseases. The lab is expected to be fully functional by next week.
