Glimpse of Indore railway station makeover revealed; Revamped building to be ready by 2027

Citizens of Indore will, very soon, be able to travel via a state-of-the-art railway station with the facility getting a facelift. The first glimpse, showcasing a grand and well-equipped Indore railway station, has been revealed.

It is noteworthy that the renovation of the station will be done on the lines of Sky Walk and that in New Delhi. It will, thus, be connected to a metro station and be designed like an airport.

As per reports, ₹495 crore will be spent on the building in the first phase.

All about the soon-to-be-renovated station

The revamped station will be sprawled across a whopping 4.56 lakh square feet, almost 10 times bigger than the present one occupying 50,000 square feet. It will not only involve seven storeys but will also have 26 elevators and 17 escalators.

Additionally, the renovated station will comprise a concourse on all its platforms and will be adorned with shops to fulfil needs of passengers.

As per the Railways, the station will be augmented by high-class amenities like a royal entrance, roof plaza, executive lounge, additional entrances, platforms with shed, high-tech drainage system and Wi-Fi. The said development will be implemented, keeping in mind needs of the citizens in coming 50 years.

The foundation stone of the station will be laid down virtually on February 26 by the prime minister. The much-awaited station is slated to be operational by 2027.
