With an aim to conduct leading-edge research at an international level, IIT Indore's satellite campus has been approved by the Centre to come up in Ujjain. While discussions around the satellite campus have been making rounds for a couple years, the decision was given a go-ahead by the central government on Friday.
This new institute will take autonomous decisions pertaining to administrative and academic matters. The Ujjain campus will not only have a positive impact on the faculty, students and industrial workers but also introduce employment opportunities, shared the Madhya Pradesh chief minister.
At a meeting in New Delhi with the Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, important matters related to education and skill development, surrounding the various universities, were discussed.
“IIT Indore has prepared an initial Detailed Project Report (DPR) for setting up a satellite centre in Ujjain. It will be established on 100-acre land and will be engaged in international-level research and higher education for students,” MP CM Dr Mohan Yadav had announced in 2021.
Research industries in both Ujjain and Indore will be implemented at this satellite campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore.
