A city like Indore, with lush greenery and cleanliness, as well as the rich heritage and culture, has many places which can be considered best for weekend trips.

But the busy life of the city hardly gives us any time actually to go out, which is why we have brought a list of seven places near the city to have a weekend getaway from Indore! Gather around Indore people! We are here to plan a trip.

Maheshwar

The temple village situated on the banks of the Narmada river is a trendy weekend getaway spot. Only 95 km away from Indore, Maheshwar is an excellent destination for a weekend road trip with both families and friends.


What to do: Take a tour of the Ahilyabai ghats, Queen's Fort, Kaleswar Temple, Shiv Datta Dham, and Rajwada.

Kalakund

A journey to Kalakund allows you to visit Gungara Falls and the Kalakund Forest. The Kalakund Forest night walk is an exciting trip choice that promises to woo you with vistas of lush woods, valleys, and water bodies. Situated 32 km outside the city, your weekend getaway is complete here.


What to do: Go for zorbing, paintball, hiking, stomach crawl, blow to win, archery, and visit Kushalgarh Fort and Patalpani Waterfalls.

Omkareshwar

The island is shaped as the symbol of "OM" and is located around 80 km away from Indore. It is surrounded by hills and lush green nature on all sides, making it one of the best spots for a two-day trip.

What to do: Visit Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Kajal Rani Cave, and enjoy the beauty of the flora on the island.

Ratlam

Reminds you of 'Jab We Met,' doesn't it? The city is well-known for its passion for cuisine, notably the world-famous salty snack 'Ratlami Sev.' Located around 140 km from Indore, Ratlam is a perfect site for a family getaway of a day or two.


What to do: Apart from the numerous temples, visit Sailana's Cactus Garden, Khamore Bird Sanctuary, and Gangasagar.

Hanumantiya Island

This island, situated 170 km from Indore, offers visitors to engage in a range of water sports, walking, camping, and bird watching. Hanumantiya also organizes Jal Mahotsav, India's only and largest water carnival, which attracts a vast number of art enthusiasts, adventurers, and travelers each year.


What to do: Jet Skiing, Scuba Diving, Water Surfing, and a trip on a Hot Air Balloon.

Gulawat

Not so far away from the city, Gulawat is a perfect spot for a weekend getaway into the arms of Mother Nature. With the Lotus Valley Lake and greenery all around, there was no way we wouldn't add Gulawat to this list.


What to do: Go boating in the Lotus Valley Lake and witness the breathtaking sunsets while enjoying the local street food.

Mandu

The ancient fort city with baobab trees and beautiful Afghan architecture, Mandu, is over 95 km away from Indore, giving you a perfect weekend road trip opportunity!

What to do: Take a tour of Jahaz Mahal, Hoshang Shah's Tomb, Champa Baoli, Echo Point, Kakra Khoh Waterfall, Darwaazas of Mandu, etc.
