In an attempt to bolster regional air connectivity and increase the reach to the far-flung areas, plans of using small planes and helicopters are in works by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Under the plan, the helicopter service from Khajuraho to Panna Wildlife Sanctuary, Jabalpur to Kanha Tiger Reserve and other places was announced. However, a timeline to start the program has not been mentioned by the authorities.
Following the launch of the Indore-Gondia-Hyderabad flights, air connectivity has increased by 50% for Indore. Scindia informed that Indore is now connected to 21 cities as opposed to 12 earlier. This difference has been observed in the period of the last 8 months. The number of flights flying in and out of Indore in a week has increased to 445 from a low 308.
