The city of Indore, which has been awarded as 'the cleanest city of India' six times in a row is no stranger to public spitting. Orange spit stains can be found in several spots of the city and alongside the streets. To counter this, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has now enforced strict rules and regulations under the anti-spitting campaign.
Notably, IMC has started its 'No thu thu' campaign this Monday i.e. December 5. Furthermore, several NGOs, public representatives and IMC Mayor cleaned the spit-stained dividers near the Mhow Naka intersection, during the commencement of the campaign.
Reportedly, IMC officials have stated that the campaign will constitute of two phases, during which the civic authorities will enforce several measures to curb public spitting practices in the city.
In the first phase, IMC will advise people against spitting gutkha and paan etc. in public, while flouters will be given verbal warnings regarding the same. During the second phase, IMC will impose fines against the miscreants who will be caught spitting publicly.
The anti-spitting campaign is yet another revolutionary move of the Indore civic authority which is expected to further bolster the cleanliness initiative of the city.
