In a bid to prepare Indore for the initial phase of the vaccination drive against the coronavirus, district health officials have buckled up to identify health workers to train them as probable vaccinators in the city. According to the District Immunisation Officer, the database of health care workers was created by the circulation of a form, which collected their personal details, along with Adhaar identities. All staff members had to fill the column which enquired if they 'could work as a probable vaccinator or not'. This led to the creation of an index of 25,000 health workers, which was sent to the state. The health officials then shortlisted around 4,000 applications as probable vaccinators.

First, this staff will be trained and then tasked with the responsibility of administering the COVID-19 vaccines, upon their arrival. At present, the district machinery has 308 vaccinators, in state-run facilities, who are catering to the immunisation of children and pregnant ladies.
