While 50 buses will be introduced in the first phase of this initiative, according to the CEO of AiCTSL, the plan is to eventually add 600 CNG buses to the fleet. As per reports, based on the public-private partnership (PPP) model, the new buses will be 32-seater mid-size models. Moreover, to ensure the safety of the passengers, each of these buses will be equipped with CCTV surveillance cameras and a GPS system.
Reportedly, the buses will be environment friendly and cost-effective as well as they will work on bio-compressed natural gas (CNG) produced at the bio methanation plants of Indore Municipal Corporation to save fuel costs. According to an official, the new routes have been planned strategically, to provide better public transport options for travellers especially from the outskirts and suburban areas of the city.
