Bringing a small sign of relief for the residents in Indore, less than 1k infections were marked for two days in a row. While 937 new cases were recorded on Friday, the case tally up ticked by 863 on Saturday. Besides this, the count of active patients has contracted, driven by almost 9500 recoveries in the past 5 days. As the graph slopes downwards, it can be expected that the current issues will gradually resolve and normalcy will be revived soon.

After the onslaught of the second COVID wave in April, daily case tallies crossed the 1k mark on April 13. Furthered by an uncontrolled chain of infections, the figures remained over the alarming point till they dropped to 937 on May 21, almost a month later. Besides being one of the most affected districts in the country, Indore stood blanketed under a high count of infections for one of the longest periods.

Now, the dripping case count and rising recoveries encapsulate signs of hope for the upcoming days. Indore currently has the second-highest count of active patients in Madhya Pradesh, standing at 9,432. This list is led by the state capital, Bhopal which has a total of 9,773 patients. Notably, the counts have dropped down considerably within the past few weeks and it is expected that they would take a further downward trajectory. On the darker side, 162 fatalities have been registered in the month of May alone and 7 individuals lost their battle against the disease on Saturday.
While the strenuous situation seems to be diffusing in Indore, it is important to maintain a toughened shield against the virus if the stability has to be restored soon. Here, it is important to recognise that the efforts by the administration will translate into actions only if the citizens' cooperation is ensured.
