Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh have been offered new relaxations, in an attempt to give the commercial activities a much-needed boost, while also ensuring staggered customer rush. The relaxations allow all markets in Madhya Pradesh's capital and commercial hub Indore to remain open till 10 PM, against the earlier cap of 8 PM, which was imposed to arrest the transmission of coronavirus infection in the state.

Bhopal District Magistrate released a new order on Sunday evening, saying that all shops, offices, business institutions in the city would remain open only till 10 PM. Night curfew will be observed from this closing time to 6 AM. The Indore District Magistrate too, issued a similar order, stating that all shops, commercial institutions and restaurants under the purview of Indore Municipal Corporation area and Mhow cantonment and other areas in the city would remain open till 10 PM.
In compliance to this directive, shops, business institutions, restaurants, among other activities are permitted to operate from 6 AM to 10 PM only in these two MP districts. These restrictive and precautionary measures are being adopted to eliminate any unprecedented spike of COVID-19 in Madhya Pradesh.
With the addition of 533 fresh infections on Sunday, Indore's case count has surpassed the tally of 45,451 confirmed cases, hosting an active caseload of 4,992 patients. Recovery stands at 87.2% with 39,677 cases, while death toll has tipped over the 782 mark, with one more fatality yesterday.
This two-hour window has been granted to all shops and markets in the two commercial hubs to boost commerce ahead of the tourist and holiday season. It will further prevent over-crowding in the markets during the rush evening hours.
