Indore will soon run 24x7 activities, giving a major boost to the IT companies, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) establishments, and also to strengthening the city's economy.

Apart from being a pioneer in cleanliness, Indore plans to leave no stoned unturned with this new initiative. The 24x7 activities will take place around the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor of the city, in a phased manner. Let’s find out how departments like police, IMC, AICTSL and local administration are making required changes for round the clock commercial activities.

Overnight security along the BRTS Corridor

This first-of-its-kind experiment will likely create employment for 20,000 people of Indore. The concerned departments have already started chalking out the road map for the project to meet the safety demands of the workers and visitors. Sufficient number of cops (male and female) and CCTVs will be deployed along BRTS Corridor to keep a constant check on security.

Street lights and electricity along the passage

IMC has already prepared for proper light arrangements in the entire 11 kilometer long passage of BRTS Corridor and regulated the signals as well. Following this, the power company is expected to witness a rise of 1.5 lakh units of overnight electricity consumption. A team of supervisors will be on guard to deal with any sort of electrical emergency.

Garbage and transportation movement

To meet the transportation demands, Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited (AICTSL), have sufficient number of busses. Additionally, they have also agreed to hire extra staff including drivers and conductors to meet the demand for the night shift.

This apart, IMC will be required to collect garbage that will be generated at night due to selected commercial activities, by the eateries, startups and IT firms operating 24X7.

A win-win for the people of Indore

Apart from giving a Indore an economical boost and providing 20,000 jobs, the corridor will have no activity that can create nuisance. A "negative" list of activities like bars, and liquor shops which will not be allowed to run for the project has been confirmed. Liquor shops and restaurants/bars with FL-2 and FL-3 license (to serve alcohol) will close at 11:30PM as usual.

Reportedly, a portal will be developed so that the outlets which want to run round-the-clock activities can register themselves.
