Knocksense Shorts | Indore health department to provide additional polio doses from new year

The Indore health department will be giving three doses of the polio vaccine starting to the children of the city from new year.

Contributing to the Pulse Polio Immunization initiative of India and to provide additional immunity to children against the polio virus, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has passed instructions to the state authorities for providing an additional dose of inactivated poliovirus vaccine between 9 to 12 months.

Referring to the same, the Indore health department will be giving three doses of the polio vaccine starting to the children of the city from the new year. Till now two doses of functionally inactivated poliovirus were given to the children to protect them from polio. The first dose is given at the age of six weeks and the second dose at the age of 14 weeks.

Furthermore, the third dose will also be administered in other states of India to provide protection to children.
