In an attempt to bring growth in the tourism industry, Madhya Pradesh Tourism (MPT) plans to launch a cruise service called the Narmada Cruise. This Narmada river cruise will start from MP’s Barwani and conclude at the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Gujarat. The stretch between the two destinations will be 135 kms.
The cruise will take 2 to 3 days to complete its journey. This duration of the cruise trip leaves a lot of time for the tourists to engage in various activities. Officials share that the tourists will be able to enjoy and participate in water sports on islands along the way. It is likely that the cruise will start operation in June next year.
As per the reports, the cruise ship was to begin from Omkareshwar to Maheshwar. However, the survey team highlighted that, a number of islands between the two locations will cause obstruction on the route. Following which the authorities decided to start the service between Barwani and the Statue of Unity that has a relatively less number of islands.
This won’t be the first time that MP Tourism will be dipping its toes in water sports. Earlier in April, plans to turn Malashree Island near Gandhi Sagar Dam into a water sports destination surfaced. Apart from that many activities like parasailing, river rafting, banana boat riding, jet skiing, and speed boating can be enjoyed by tourists at places like Hanuwantiya, Orchha, Pachmarhi, Choral Dam, Shakya Lake, etc.
