In a bid to put an end to traffic woes across Indore city, the administration has adopted a strict stance against battery operated rickshaws. The sale and registration of e-rickshaws in Indore will be prohibited from March 2. A letter has also been sent to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) regarding the same.

Addressing the problem of lack of regulation among e-rickshaw drivers

On Tuesday, a campaign was conducted in Indore to check up on the e-rickshaws plying in the city. During the campaign, a total of 5 e-rickshaws were seized and challans were issued to another 80 for overloading, driver's license, number plate, registration, and more.

It is noteworthy that the lack of regulation for e-rickshaw drivers has been identified as the cause behind the ruckus these rickshaws create in the city. Now, the administration is working towards ensuring that e-rickshaws ply on designated areas and all the drivers' data can be documented and maintained.
