In a ground breaking development, IIT Indore has created a cutting-edge shoes for armed forces personal that generate electricity and track locations in real time. These innovative shoes, equipped with GPS and REID technology, harvest energy form each step to power their tracking devices. The first batch of 10 pairs has already been delivered to DRDO.

Professor Suhas Joshi, IIT Indore's director, highlights that these shoes will significantly enhance soldiers' safety, co-ordination and efficiency. The footwear utilises Tribo-Electric Nanogenerator (TENG) technology to convert motion into electricity, stored in the soles for powering small devices.

Beyond military applications, this technology shows promise for tracking Alzheimer's patients, school children and even improving athletes' performance.
