Indore is all set to host the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or NRI Day 2023 in all its glory. The 5-day extravaganza, being hosted on January 8-12, 2023, will be full of numerous cultural programmes including music, dance, and more. Herein, historically rich events from the nation's past will be displayed on an interactive e-Flipbook, making up for a stimulating affair for the audience.
The event, held once in every two years, acts as a platform for the Indian government to engage with the overseas Indian community on major issues concerning them. Here, selected NRIs are also bestowed the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award to recognise their contributions.
“Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal” has been set as the theme for the 17th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Keeping this at the forefront, a special tribute will highlight the efforts of eminent Overseas Indians. The event will also be graced by the presence of Guyana's President, Dr Irfaan Ali, as the chief guest and Australian MP Zaneta Mascarenhas as the guest of honour.
Moreover, slated to be the highlight of the event, a digital exhibition of India's freedom struggle at the Brilliant Convention Centre will be open for guests from abroad as well as for Indian nationals.
Achievements of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Dadabhai Naoroji, and Swami Vivekananda will be showcased during this exhibition. The diverse audience will be briefed about the significance of some nationally important incidents from the past. These include Vivekananda's speech in London, the formation of the Chicago front, and the Kamagatamaru incident. The move is aimed at highlighting the turning points in India's freedom struggle.
Preparations to make the event successful have been in full swing. Reportedly, a total of 3,500 policemen have been deployed as part of the security arrangements in Indore. Additionally, over 3,000 CCTVs have already been installed to ensure optimum security and surveillance.
In order to offer a hassle-free experience to guests from around the world, over 5,000 officials and workers are expected to participate in this 5-day-long affair held at Indore's Brilliant Convention Centre.
