In a bid to curb ragging in higher education institutes, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a new guideline as per which institutions of Indore have to put up anti-ragging posters and banners. The posters/banners must include the contact info and details of anti-ragging squads and other officials of the institution, which will help in reducing incidents related to ragging.

Institutions, including Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), will be required to make students aware of the consequences of ragging.

Apart from putting up anti-ragging posters, UGC also asked the institutes to step up their anti-ragging policies and guidelines. Institutes have been instructed to arrange the senior-junior accommodation in separate buildings or wings of the hostels along with the installation of CCTV cameras to avoid mishaps.

Furthermore, flying squads will also keep a check on the hostels by contacting hostellers from time to time and by paying surprise visits once a month.

Back in September, UGC also asked the institutes to make it compulsory for each student to submit an online undertaking who takes admission during this academic year, stating that they will not partake in any form of ragging activity during their academic session.
