6 PM to 6 AM curfew in Jaipur & all districts of Rajasthan to check 2nd COVID wave

All establishments will have to be closed by 5 PM.

Alerted by a perturbing hike in COVID numbers, the Rajasthan government has declared night curfew shall be imposed in all districts of the state from April 16 to 30. It has been stated that markets, offices and commercial areas will not be allowed to function during the time period of the curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM. In accordance with this, all aforesaid spaces will have to be closed by 5 PM ensuring that citizens reach home by 6.

Amongst a list of provisions entailed in the order, the government establishments will be shut down by 4. It is to be noted that factories, IT companies and chemist shops shall be permitted to function during curfew hours. Further, the coaching centres and libraries will suspend all operations by 6 but schools with scheduled practical exams for students of grades 10th and 12th will be allowed to function.

In addition to this, the state government has also issued directives prohibiting gatherings and events. While the count of attendees at a wedding has been capped at 50, only 20 individuals will be permitted at funerals. Restricting the crowd at restaurants and clubs, they have asked to function at 50%. Besides this, there is a blanket ban on operations of cinema halls, multiplexes, swimming pools in the state.

As per the orders, takeaway facilities from the restaurants are allowed till 8 PM. If a shop or any established is observed violating the stated guidelines and protocols, it will be sealed immediately.

On Wednesday, Jaipur registered the highest hike in daily numbers, standing at 1,325 while 4 people lost their lives to the virus in the past 24 hours. While Rajasthan's tally of active COVID cases hovers over 44,905, Jaipur shares the largest burden with 8,061. As per experts, the second wave is more dangerous than the first one.
