Through its proactive approach and ambitious projects, Rajasthan has been successful in bagging the second spot in the Smart City Mission rankings published by the Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. Amid a survey conducted across 36 states and union territories, Rajasthan marked a momentous victory rising from 29th to 2nd spot in a year. As per reports, four of its districts, including the state capital Jaipur, have been placed in the list of top 100 cities.

Reportedly, Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer are the 4 cities from the state who have found a place in the top 100. While the capital city clinched the 36th spot, Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer have received 8th, 11th and 29th ranks respectively. These ranks have been assigned to different cities based on their performance in a range of development indicators. As per reports, the factors include execution of smart city projects, continuing work in different fields and the number of tenders offered.
Additionally, the nature of fund usage and the investments in social infrastructure also account for important parameters. While the Smart City Mission was launched to accelerate the process of development across the country, some regions have definitely outperformed to make a distinguished mark for themselves.

Reportedly, the four cities have witnessed multiple projects to the range of more than ₹1,500 crores under the smart city action plan. Further, a total of nearly ₹4,000 crores is being spent on a long list of initiatives categorised under the sections of completed, ongoing and to be initiated. Given the scale of progress, the 4 cities have triumphed in chalking their ways to the illustrious list. Additionally, this has also helped the state in accomplishing the current rank.
