All schools in Jaipur have been shut down for classes 1-8 due to the scaling surge in Omicron cases in Rajasthan. As per reports, this lockdown has been imposed as part of the state's fresh COVID guidelines and will be observed till January 9, 2022.
Besides, the administration has restricted the number of people attending any gathering or event in the city to 100. This tally stands at 20 for funerals. New orders have also been put in place for passengers arriving in Rajasthan.

"Regular classroom activities for classes 1 to 8 in all private and government schools in the areas of Jaipur Greater and Jaipur Heritage municipal corporations will be closed from January 3 to 9. In other districts, collectors will take decisions about schools after discussion with the additional chief secretary of the education department," the order reads. Colleges are allowed to continue with offline classes but they have to ensure that all 18+ students are fully vaccinated.
The order further highlighted that "A maximum of 100 people will be allowed in marriage functions, public, political, social or educational meetings and processions, dharnas, fairs and such events," the order reads. For funerals, 20 attendees will be the limit.

The new guidelines further state that all foreign returnees will have to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test upon arrival in Rajasthan. All such passengers, irrespective of the test results, will be put under a 7-day quarantine, added reports. Travellers have the flexibility to choose between a home or institutional quarantine.
"Domestic travellers arriving in Rajasthan will have to produce double vaccine certificates or RT-PCR negative test reports not older than 72 hours", the guidelines stated. Meanwhile, a 6-hour night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am will remain in force, across all state districts.
Rajasthan reported 355 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 224 fresh infections from Jaipur. No COVID fatality was reported in the state in the last 24 hours and the total caseload now stands at 9,56,883, a Medical and Health Department official said.
