In a coronavirus review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday, it was decided that the night curfew in Jaipur and 7 other state districts will be extended for 1 hour in view of the continuous spread of infection. Last week, about 8 districts including Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Sagwara, and Kushalgarh were under a night curfew, meant to repress the alarming surge of COVID-19. However, as the transmission rate continues to rise, the state government on Wednesday decided to extend the curfew hours here, by 1 hour.

For a strict imposition of the same, the CM has directed officials for complete compliance. District administration, police and local bodies will be deployed to patrol in the markets to ensure adherence to the state word. Intense checking will be conducted till April 14, the government order stated.

At the same time, IT companies, restaurants, pharmacies, offices related to emergency services, wedding ceremonies, transportation and travellers will be exempted from the curfew protocols.

Rajasthan vs Coronavirus spread

In the review meeting, the Chief Minister also awarded district collectors the authority to shut down schools and other educational institutes, in consultation with the government. Further, he directed officials to come up with district-level action plans to monitor and snub the growth of virus spread right at the grassroots. Officials will also have to track mortality and growth rate of the virus, regularly. Additionally, Rajasthan will strictly follow the rule of 'no mask, no entry' as ordained by the cabinet head.

After the meeting, the official account of CMO Rajasthan tweeted, "Saving people's lives is our top priority. In view of the increasing transmission in today's situation, we will not compromise at any cost and necessary decisions will be taken. The pace of vaccination should be further increased."
