In a bid to build a strong defence against the COVID attack, the state government directed officials to provide immunity to essential workers who are more exposed to COVID infection. As a result, the Home Secretary has directed to cover the vaccination of bank employees, industrial workers, grocery and ration dealers, vegetable vendors, medical store operators and their staffers, street vendors, milk vendors, media persons, hawkers and employees of various departments, who are performing COVID-related duties.

Additionally, with the Centre permitting vaccine for all adults from May 1, the Chief Minister on Tuesday, said that the government should ensure a sufficient supply of doses to avoid glitches. While the state currently has vials that can last only for two days, the Centre should provide for the requirements. The CM has also asked for a transparent vaccine distribution strategy for the expanded immunity drive.
