After a high-level review meeting conducted on Sunday night, new guidelines have been announced in Rajasthan, in wake of the rampant rise of COVID-19 cases. The order binds Jaipur and other state districts under strict restrictions from April 5 to April 19 to flatten the infection curve here. As per directives, all cinema halls, amusement parks and swimming pools in the state will remain closed during these 15 days, as a defence against the pandemic.

Rajasthan schools to remain closed from Classes 1 to 9

Rajasthan Government has decided to shut down schools for Classes 1 to 9 amid the rising COVID scare here. Rajasthan State Education Board, RBSE timetable has been released, along with a notice that directs schools to make required arrangements and preparations to conduct the exams accordingly.

The state notification has further announced closure for all classes running in the colleges except for the final year of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. Practicals too have been allowed, read reports.

Other restrictions and guidelines

• All restaurants will have to be closed during the night, however, take away and home delivery will be allowed.
• Only 100 people will be allowed to attend wedding ceremonies.
• Only 75% will be allowed to work in the government offices.
• People have been advised to suspend their travel to places where Covid patients are high in numbers. An RT-PCR negative COVID report, up to 72 hours, has been made mandatory for all travellers reaching the state.

Besides this, district collectors and police commissioners in Jaipur and other state districts have been awarded the authority to announce night curfews where required, after consultation with the state. A Joint Enforcement Team (JET) with officials from the civic body, district administration and police has been assigned with the task to ensure that all norms and protocols are being practised, without laxity.

The state has recorded over 8,000 covid cases in the last one week, where about 1,729 new infections were added to the tally in the last 24 hours. As per reports, the state capital Jaipur has received the sharpest blow of this risen spread with 258 fresh cases. Jaipur's active tally now stands at 2,383 while the state is collectively nursing a total of 12,878 cases.

Besides Jaipur, Ajmer (96), Bhilwara (96), Chittaurgarh (68), Jodhpur (194), Kota (225), Dungarpur (85) and Udaipur (137) cases are also dealing with a high case load.
