On Tuesday, Jaipur saw a considerable dip in the number of new cases, clocking in 97 infections in comparison to Monday's high 148, the overall growth of the active caseload remained unaltered. About 11 coronavirus cases were added to Jaipur's active load on March 1. By March 23, this count has surged to 67 cases, clearly indicating the 6-fold rise. A single death was reported here on Tuesday while recovery notched 29 discharges.
These high tallies, especially after a brief period of lull has raised concerns among the state and district authorities alike. Special police teams have now been deployed at public places in Jaipur to monitor public movement with respect to the state established COVID-19 protocols. As per earlier reports, punitive action will also be taken against violators of the safety norms.
As per sources, a similar rising pattern has been noted in Rajasthan's collective state tallies, alluding to a similar rise across several prominent districts. As of March 2, a total of 102 new cases were registered in the state and 602 as of March 22. Despite the high infection surge, the case fatality ratio has been under control this time around. The death toll in March has been limited to 20 fatalities, so far.
The Chief Minister also warned the people about the sudden rise of cases and appealed to them to follow all corona guidelines or else strict decisions will have to be taken. In a tweet, he said: "On March 11, there were 203 COVID patients in the state while by March 22, this number surged to 602. In 11 days, COVID numbers increased to three times. The situation can turn worse if carelessness continues. So wear masks, wash hands and maintain social distancing." The CM further added that the state government wants to check the COVID spread with the public's help and not by strict decisions.
