The historic temple is situated on a sloppy landscape along the boundaries of the Aravalli hills. Built by Diwan Rao Kriparam who was a part of Sawai Jai Singh II's royal court, the majestic temple gets its name from Saint Galtav. Folklore says that the saint performed austere penance at the spot for many years of his life. Impressed by his sacrifices and determination, God blessed the region with plentiful water. It is also believed that the legendary saint Tulsidas wrote certain parts of the holy Ramcharitmanas here.
