In today’s increasingly interconnected and globalised world, the perks of learning a language are infinite. Knowing how to speak two or more languages can lead to a pathway of endless possibilities, no matter where you live. The same has been made possible for students of Rajasthan University as students interested in European languages can now get diversity in career opportunities with Rajasthan University's exchange and language assistantship programme.
As one of the fastest-growing tier-2 cities in India, the economy of Jaipur is fuelled by jewellery export, textiles, handicrafts, IT/ITeS, and tourism. The capital city is an international heritage place and is among Rajasthan’s top destinations for foreign language classes.
The department of European Languages, Literature and Cultural Studies of Rajasthan University is witnessing a leap in the exchange and language assistantship programmes with seven students selected in 2022 as compared to three in 2020.
Twelve students from the university’s French department are all set to visit France, 5 under the Exchange Programme in collaboration with Jean Moulin, Lyon and Aix-Marseille, Marseille and 7 under the English Assistantship Program ‘Assisteaux d’anglais’ conducted by the Ministry of Education, France, in association with the Embassy of France.
The eligibility criteria for the English Assistantship Programme that offers seven months in France demands students between 20-25 age group to score a minimum of 7.5 in IELTS and DELF.
This is a proud moment not just for the department but especially for our girls, as nine out of twelve are girls from Rajasthan itself.Head & assistant Professor Nidhi Raisinghani
Some of the students are travelling to France first time from their families while some are leaving Jaipur for the first time alone but nonetheless each one of them is equally ecstatic and anticipating an experience to remember.
These students upon successful completion, will receive DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) from the French Ministry for National Education that will certify them for having French language skills.
