IIT Kanpur students stepped out of their lecture rooms on their bicycles on Saturday, April 29. As part of a special health drive, over a hundred IIT-K students visited a nearby village to conduct a health awareness campaign, going door-to-door and enquiring villagers about their health ailments.

The initiative was carried out under the Unnat Bhartiya Abhiyan (UBA), a central government scheme, to motivate students from top educational institutes towards working for the upliftment of India's villages.

Students visited the Maksoodabad village near the campus

IIT Kanpur students visited the Maksoodabad village and were welcomed by the villagers before they began their door-to-door survey. The students questioned the natives about health problems they usually face and filled out survey forms.

Apart from the students, ASHA and ANM workers were also present in the village to help make Ayushman cards for willing villagers. Throughout this outreach programme, a wave of enthusiasm could be seen among villagers, who came out in numbers to get their Ayushman cards made and collect other relevant information regarding health and wellbeing.
