Civic authorities to take comprehensive measures to reduce congestion on Lucknow-Kanpur highway

The plans intend to decongest the highway route amid the ongoing expressway construction activities.

Owing to the persistent construction activities on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, regular traffic congestion plagues the route.

In a concerted effort to improve the commuting experience along this route, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, in conjunction with the police divisions of Unnao, Kanpur Dehat and Fatehpur, has meticulously formulated a comprehensive set of plans. These plans are poised for implementation in the forthcoming days.

Civic authorities to implement a series of plans to mitigate traffic

The planning process to alleviate the frequent traffic snarls was initiated following a recent survey conducted by the Lucknow Divisional Commissioner.

As part of these plans, the authorities intend to eliminate encroachments that obstruct the roadways. Additionally, to discourage individuals from parking their vehicles on the main road, NHAI will install prominent signboards. Strict enforcement measures will also be employed against those who violate these parking restrictions after the implementation of the plan.

Alternate routes to be designated for heavy vehicles

Besides this, several rural areas such as Gauri, Banthra and Chillawan located alongside Kanpur Road host weekly markets, which have a significant impact on highway traffic. To address this issue, these markets are slated for relocation to alternative areas.

Furthermore, a diversion plan is in the works for heavy vehicles originating from cities on the route. This plan will redirect these vehicles onto interior roads, in turn, alleviating congestion on the highway.
