In order to bolster micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and aid local artisans, a new authority will be formed to oversee developments in waterways. The dedicated body will put efforts to make the waterways more accessible for cheaper transport options for goods, by studying and formulating policies and conducting surveys.
Under the Promoting Leadership and Enterprise for Development and Growth Engine (PLEDGE) scheme, three private industrial parks are also slated to come up in Aligarh, Saharanpur and Kanpur Dehat. Funds have been allocated for the same by the state government, and the first installment of around ₹16.9 crores has been issued as subsidy.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also urged the MSME department to install the institutes, while encouraging artisans and assisting new-age entrepreneurs to build the same. In Saharanpur (also known as 'city of carved woods' as its major handicraft product is intricate wood work), the institute could offer to local entrepreneurs advanced designs of wooden products.
Similarly, the other institute will set up units in the Aligarh, known for hardware and its node of Defence Corridor (like Kanpur).
MSME entrepreneurs have been asked to come forward and engage in setting up these parks and institutes.
