Under the ambit of the Kanpur Smart City Project, the 146-year old Lal Imli building of Kanpur will get a facelift. All the necessary repair work and other interventions needed to improve the appearance of this heritage building will be carried out by Kanpur Smart City Limited (KSCL) at an estimated cost of ₹1.03 crores fully funded by Smart City Limited.
In a move to enhance the beauty of this historic building, Lal Imli will be lit up with facade lighting as a part of this facelift project. Apart from this, KSCL will also fix the damaged window panes and clock among other things here. Moreover, the concerned authority will be responsible for ensuring the undergrounding of electricity cables in front of the building.
The design work for this ambitious project has been awarded to Design India Factory. Recently, Dr. Raj Shekhar, the Commissioner of Kanpur along with the Municipal Commissioner, developer agency and officials of Lalimli inspected the site. As per reports, this project is likely to conclude in the next three months.
In addition, KSCL will also undertake the renovation project of another old building, Kanpur Kotwali. This 85-year-old heritage building will be fully renovated at an estimated cost of ₹1.93 crores. However, the project initiation date for Kanpur Kotwali has not been announced yet.
